This weekend is my birthday, and I’m going to be turning 28! That sounds so strange to write down and say out loud. It sounds like a very proper adult age – even though I still feel like I’m only about 15 on the inside. Last year before my birthday, I did a post sharing 27 fun facts about me in honor of turning 27. You can read the post here if you’d like. Now that I’m one year older, I’m adding one more fun fact to the mix. Some of these you may already know about me, others you may not. Either way, I hope you enjoy! 🙂
1. When I was in Kindergarten, I refused to go to school wearing anything other than a dress. Not much has changed!
2. I am *obsessed* with searching The Real Real everyday when they launch their new arrivals. I find the most amazing gems at incredible prices. I’ve wanted this Vivetta dress I’m wearing in this post for the longest time. I found it on TRR in perfect condition. I’m SO happy with it. Worth every penny.
3. My comfort shows that I constantly re-watch are Gossip Girl and Mad Men. It’s all in the alliteration.
4. I’m not a big meat-eater. I could become a vegetarian tomorrow and not miss it. I could not, however, give up carbs or dairy. Bread and cheese are the foundation of my diet.
5. I have never been that great with change. I cried when I was in elementary school because my parents traded their old mini van in for a new car.
6. Growing up, I hated running with a passion. But it’s become one of my favorite hobbies in the past several months. I’m not very good at it, but I find it so relaxing. It’s a moment in my day where I can space out and think about nothing. My goal is to run the Pittsburgh Half Marathon with my dad one of these years.
7. My late twenties have been way better than my early twenties. You literally could not pay me to be 23 again. It’s like being a teenager all over, but with the added responsibility of a job and bills. I don’t have everything figured out at 28, but everything feels more grounded.
8. I am a proud passenger princess. I’ll gladly be in charge of entertainment and directions if it means I don’t have to drive.
9. Going to concerts is one of my favorite things to do. I’m so happy we’re getting back into live shows now that Covid is (mostly) behind us. I saw The National at Heinz Hall last week, and we’re seeing Kurt Vile next month.
10. The number one item on my dream wish list right now is a vintage Chanel Diana bag from 1994. I love that the one I linked is a deep brown instead of black. It feels even more unique.
11. I feel like I’m a mix between Type A and Type B. I want things to be perfect, but I like to think I’m very relaxed about it.
12. I’m not that great at artistic things, but I find them so fun and relaxing. Step-by-step crochet kits and adult paint-by-numbers are the perfect solution for me.
13. When I was little, I wanted to either be a racecar driver or a meteorologist. I watched a lot of Herbie Fully Loaded and had a fascination with thunderstorms.
14. I worked in retail for four years at an H&M while I was in college. It was such a great first job, and I had so much fun. I also basically just gave my paycheck back every two weeks because I took full advantage of my employee discount.
15. My Chick-Fil-A order is either a cool wrap or a spicy chicken sandwich, with large fries and an unsweetened iced tea.
16. I can touch my tongue to the tip of my nose. I can also cross my eyes. Those are about the only “weird” things I can do.
17. I like pretty much any kind of music – except current country music. I just can’t do it.
18. I *love* fantasy football, and I take it very seriously. I finished in first place the last two years. I will literally wake up at 3 in the morning on waiver day to snag the players I want. My team is 1-2 right now, but I’ll be getting back on track this week.
19. I had to get twice growing up because I never wore my retainer and my teeth moved back. Not fun.
20. My boyfriend and I have wanted our own dog for the longest time, but most places won’t let us adopt because we live in an apartment (with a dog park though!). So, we went with the next best thing and got a fish. His name is Archie, and he’s a pink betta fish.
21. I actually have a black belt and practiced martial arts for about ten years when I was younger. People are always surprised to learn this about me. Self defense is unfortunately such an important skill to have today. Never be afraid to speak up and protect yourself if someone is ever making you feel uncomfortable, no matter the situation. Being polite can get you hurt or worse.
22. My ranking of months, from worst to best: March, January, February, April, November, September, May, August, July, June, October, December
23. My favorite podcast is Crime Junkie, but I can’t listen to too many episodes in a row or else I get a little paranoid.
24. I graduated from college with a 4.0 GPA. When I was in high school, one of my teachers shared that she finished grad school with a perfect grade point average. I thought to myself, “Hey, I want to do that too.” It was always an underlying goal, but I never put massive pressure on myself. I promised myself I would try my best and whatever happened, happened. This was a very proud accomplishment for me.
25. My two favorite weeks of the year are the week of Christmas and the week we vacation in New Jersey with my boyfriend’s family.
26. I am very lucky and do not have any allergies.
27. My first car was a silver Hyundai Sonata that I scraped the living daylights out of against the side of a parking garage at college. I’ll never forget the look on my sister’s face when saw the damage and then tried to tell me it wasn’t that bad. It was pretty bad.
28. I am extremely sensitive to coffee and can’t drink it. The caffeine makes me feel like I’m two steps away from a heart-attack.
