Fall is my favorite season of the year, and I am SO happy that we are almost in September now! Once September hits, I am officially in autumn mode, even though summer doesn’t technically end until later in the month. There’s just so many awesome things about the season – the weather is perfect, football and hockey are back, the turning leaves look beautiful in Pittsburgh, all of the delicious food, my birthday is in October, etc. I could go on and on. The only thing about fall I don’t like is the frigid cold that follows with winter.
But – probably my most favorite thing of all about fall is all of the clothing. I feel like I’m really in my element in autumn. Summer dressing is so much fun (you know I love a good sundress and sandals), but you really can’t beat putting outfits together in the cooler months. The layering, textures, fabrics, patterns. Boots, sweaters, coats. Moody florals, rich jewel tones, suedes, leathers. I can’t get enough!
At the bottom of this post, I have included a rather large edit of the best new clothing and accessory arrivals for fall. It seems like every single store right now is launching their autumn collections, and it can be overwhelming deciding what to get. I’ve gone through several of my favorite sites and plucked a stellar selection of staple dresses, coats, boots and more that will carry you through the coming season and beyond.
The dress I am wearing is one of those new arrivals, and I am thrilled with it so far. I’ve been shopping and building my wardrobe for quite some time now, so I already know the styles of dresses that look best on me/that I prefer to wear on a daily basis. When I saw this dress (which also comes in a gorgeous emerald green and another pretty fall pattern), I immediately knew it would be perfect. The burgundy shade and floral pattern is great for fall, winter and even transitioning back into summer with the right accessories. I love the chiffon-feel fabric and the smocking at the bust. I will wear it with boots or flats for now and then pair it with tights and heavier outerwear for the winter. It’s also under $70!
I paired the dress with two investment staples from my closet – my Chloe Nile bag and my Chloe Diane tall leather boots. I actually purchased the bag secondhand (which I will be doing a post on soon!) and got the boots on sale during Black Friday. They were both pricier purchases but have been so, so worth it. I wore the boots around 4-5x per week last winter and the bag has become my go-to.
Cost-per-wear should be a real factor when putting together your dream wardrobe. Boots that cost $900 that you wear 100 times during a year are actually more affordable than $60 boots you wear three times and then toss.
