Nothing transforms an outfit quite like a gorgeous handbag.
And sometimes a transformation is needed, especially in the middle of winter when I feel like I fall into the habit of wearing the same things over and over again. That’s great for the longevity and value of my wardrobe, but it can get boring fast. Switching up your handbag is one of the quickest ways to turn a familiar look from same-old into spectacular.
Previous winters, I used to love handbags that were in dark, deep shades. Rich burgundy, onyx, navy blue, jewel tone purples, you name it. I still have all of my old favorites in my closet, but lately I’ve been drawn to much fresher, lighter and muted purses. Pale blues, blush pinks, and whimsical bird prints have been catching my eye every time I browse online. I received this stunning Kate Spade handbag featured in this post for Christmas, and I have been wearing it non-stop. Even though it’s a bit more of a “traditional” winter color, the leather of the bag is so glossy that it has a mirror ball effect. It catches so much light and brightens up my heavy cold-weather wardrobe.
I thought I would include some of the bags I’ve seen that I absolutely adore in case you are looking to add a new purse to your closet. The best thing about these accessories is that they can easily be transitioned into spring and summer, as well. Wear them now with sweater dresses and boots or jeans and long coats, then style them later with linen dresses and strappy sandals. I am particularly infatuated with this Tory Burch handbag that also comes in a delightful gingham print and a classic blue-and-white floral I snagged on sale for Black Friday. I am also very into this Neely & Chloe bag that’s currently on sale. Let me know if you think I should get it!
