My Favorite Spring Smocked Dresses

Reformation Dress / J. Crew Heels (Similar) / Tory Burch Bag (Similar)

It’s officially sundress season! I put the last remnants of my winter wardrobe in storage and hung all my warm weather clothes up. It’s such a relief that gorgeous and sunny days are here. It is supposed to be rainy and gross this weekend. But, I’m going to pretend that’s not happening by sharing some of my favorite spring smocked dresses in this post today!

Honestly I think smocking is one of the best inventions ever. I’m so glad it’s been trendy over the last few years because it deserves all the hype. A smocked sundress is the epitome of spring and summer. They’re cute, comfortable and easy-going.

They work perfectly for so many different occasions. Swimsuit coverup, date night dress, concert outfit, family barbecue, summer festival, farmer’s market shopping, drive-in movies, getting ice cream cones, parties. Literally you name it. I bet a smocked sundress will fit the bill.

Smocking is also a lifesaver for being a woman in general. Your body changes so much throughout the day. At least mine does! By the time I’ve had dinner, a dress that was loose on me in the morning can start to feel uncomfortable depending on the material. With a smocking detail around the waist though, you never have that problem. It will grow with you without digging or squeezing.

This smocked sundress I’m wearing is a style from Reformation that I bought last year in their sale. I am normally not a huge fan of their rayon dresses, but this one is quite darling. The thinner fabric actually makes it perfect for hot spring and summer days.

The skirt has an A-line silhouette and is ultra flowy. It doesn’t cling to your midsection, which also makes it ideal for humid weather. I don’t have too many spring dresses with sleeves, so I love that it can be worn on slightly cooler days too. I’ve styled it with a trench coat and some sneakers in the past for chillier weather.

And we all know how I feel about blue and white floral anything. This dress is right up my alley. I’ve worn it 5 or 6 times in the past month alone.

This specific dress is sold out. But if you’re looking to buy something similar from Reformation, I’m wearing a size 10 for reference. I find that the brand runs small and slightly short, so I always size up at least one size. I’m usually a 6 in J. Crew and a medium in most other brands.

I decided to dress up this smocked beauty a little with some white ankle strap heels (similar) and a blue and white floral Tory Burch bag. These heels are SO cute, and I absolutely love them. But, you could just as easily wear it more casual with some espadrille platform slides and a fun tote bag. Don’t be surprised when you catch me in smocked dresses all summer long! I have a feeling it’s going to be my go-to uniform.
