The Must-Have Items On My Fashion Wish List for Fall

The consolation prize for the end of summer is the beginning of fall fashion. I’ve been doing a lot of window shopping (and a bit of actual shopping) in preparation for the cooler months ahead. I’ve put together my personal wish list for this autumn, and I wanted to share it today in case you’re looking for ideas or inspiration.

I definitely have a few specific things on my wish list that I’d like to add to my wardrobe, but the majority of it is general. I have categories of clothes and accessories I’m searching for, but it’s always a process to find the *perfect* one. So most of the items I’m talking about today are pieces I’m excited to try, but they may not be the ultimate choice I go with for my closet.

And it’s a wish list, so there are some things on there that are fantasy additions that I almost certainly will not ever be buying due to the price. But a girl can dream, right? LOL.

Fall dresses are always on my list when the season rolls around. Autumnal fashion is much more exciting to me, but dressing for summer is so much easier. It is so difficult to find dresses I absolutely adore that have sleeves. I’m not a cardigan girlie, and seemingly every fall dress that catches my eye is sleeveless. So once again this year, I am on the hunt for a few new ones to add to my collection.

I’ve already ordered this black J. Crew mini dress. The bows at the waist are so cute, and I think this would be perfect paired with tall boots and a simple wool coat. And I know I just griped about sleeves, but there’s something about this silky Few Moda midi dress that makes me want to buy it. It looks so much more expensive than the price tag. I’m picturing it with a leather jacket and some sneakers to dress it down.

This Agua by Agua Bendita dress also seems like it would be so lovely for the season. I have some pink Sezane boots to wear with it, but I will most likely wait for it to go on sale before I purchase it to try. Agua by Agua Bendita is 100% worth the investment, but the original price is still a bit steep at the moment.

And speaking of steep – if I had all the money in the world, I’d buy this Agua by Agua Bendita maxi dress right this second. It’s one of the most stunning embroidered patterns I’ve ever seen, and the Lima silhouette is my favorite. This would be a piece I’d have in my wardrobe forever. It feels so special, and the embroidery is all done by hand.

Every fall, there’s nothing that tempts me more than a gorgeous new pair of boots. I tend to make one “investment” purchase for boots each autumn. Last year, it was my pink Sezane suede boots. Two years ago, it was my flat Chloe Diane boots that I still adore. This year, I’m torn. Do I want to add a tall, classic heeled pair of leather boots like these Loeffler Randall Goldy boots? Or, do I want to finally pick up a pair of 60s/Sharon state-esque white block heel ankle boots? These ones from Vince would be my choice – I already have them in black, and they’re stellar. What do you think I should go with? Let me know in the comments or over on Instagram.

For other shoes, I can’t stop thinking about the Veja Campo sneakers in black. I talked about them in my post on top transitional pieces to add to your wardrobe, and ever since, I can’t get them out of my mind! I already have the Campo sneakers in Matcha, and I adore them. They’re comfortable, they’re chic and they go with everything. But I have a similar pair of black and white sneakers from Kate Spade, and that’s what’s holding me back. I don’t love them nearly as much as my Campos, so I may end up selling the Kate Spades and upgrading to the black Vejas. I think I’d get a ton of wear out of them this fall.

Every fall I reembrace my Gossip Girl era, and this fall is no different. I’m on the hunt for the perfect plaid blazer and an iconic black mini skirt. These are wardrobe staples that I don’t own yet that I think would work really well in my closet. For the blazer, I’m looking for something slightly oversized that I can pair with mini skirts and boots. I don’t want it to look like a workwear piece, but I also don’t want it to look like outerwear. I think that’s why I haven’t nailed down the exact one I want yet, because it’s difficult to find that balance. This Madewell blazer looks like it could do the trick, and I love the color combo of the plaid.

For a classic black mini skirt, I am searching for one that fits at the waist and has a crisp A-line silhouette. Something that’s kind of 60s/70s inspired but looks modern. So many skirts I’ve tried appear to have that shape when I order them online. But when they arrive and I try them on, it’s a no-go. The A-line silhouette is always barely-there, so much so that my hips just absorb it and it comes off more bodycon than anything. This mini from & Other Stories could be the winner, and the price is right, too.

And lastly, it isn’t fall unless I’m daydreaming about a new handbag. Autumnal burgundies, teals, rich browns and hunter greens look so stunning in leather and suede, and I think that’s why I’m always drawn to a new bag this time each year. I can’t help it! I’ve wanted a Tory Burch Eleanor bag for years now. They’re timeless and elegant. I especially love this version with a leather strap instead of the gold rope chain. Typically I’d always go for the “fancier” version, but I like the casual rendition better. I think it’s more versatile and gives a more “cool girl” effortless vibe that adds a modern twist.

This Chloe bag is a new one I’ve never seen before, but it caught my eye for the same reasons as the Tory Burch Eleanor. I prefer bags with a top handle, but it’s rare to come across one that’s more casual and less “proper”. The shape is unlike anything I own, as is the color. This is definitely a purse I’d wait to buy until I found it secondhand.
