29 Fun Facts About Me

I love to do a fun facts post about me around my birthday each year. It’s a great way to get to know a little bit more about me, especially because mostly I keep things about fashion and beauty around here. I turned 29 on October 2, which is just crazy. I feel like I blinked and my twenties disappeared. But to be honest, it doesn’t really bother me that I’m in the last year of my 20s. If anything, it just makes me more excited about what’s to come. And if you’re interested, you can read my other fun facts posts from years past here and here. Without further ado, I hope you enjoy these 29 fun facts about me. 😊

1. I am 5’9”, which I think surprises a lot of people who expect me to be shorter. I’ve been tall my entire life (like, towering over the rest of kids in elementary school). But I honestly wish I was even taller. I think it would be so cool to be 6’0”, but sadly I think I’m done growing LOL.

2. My first cellphone was a 2007 red LG Shine with a fake, colorful monogram Coach case that I bought from a kiosk at the mall.

3. This outfit is my ideal fall uniform: turtleneck bodysuit, mini skirt, some sort of blazer or jacket, a neutral bag and some Mary Janes. It just feels so me, and I will probably use this outfit formula a hundred different times over the next several months.

4. I have no musical talent whatsoever. The day before my first ever band class started in the 4th grade, I broke my arm at recess. That effectively ended any instrumental aspirations I had before they even began.

5. Root beer is by FAR my least favorite beverage. I don’t know what it is about it, but I hate it. I won’t touch it with a 10-foot pole.

6. It has been a literal dream to work from home these past almost FOUR years since the pandemic started. I think about how lucky I am all the time to be able to do remote work from the comfort of my home. I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

7. The most money I’ve ever won at a casino is about $250. I’d always rather spend on a bag or clothes than play slot machines LOL.

8. It’s definitely still sinking in that my fiancé and I are engaged. It feels like nothing has really changed, but at the same time, it also feels like EVERYTHING has changed. We’re still in the process of deciding on a venue but have things narrowed down to a few favorites.

9. My first real concert was seeing David Cook from American Idol at Mr. Smalls Theater in 2009.

10. My most recent concert was seeing Lana Del Rey in West Virginia last week.

11. The only time I’ve ever been to Europe is when I visited Paris in college in 2016 as part of a “study abroad lite” class I was taking. It was a travel writing class, and we spent spring break visiting all sorts of gorgeous churches and museums. I also got pretty sick and had to go to a pharmacy to ask for cough medicine that would help me sleep. The lady in the shop was like, “I have just the thing for you!” And it wasn’t until I got back to the hotel room that I realized she sold me codeine cough syrup – over the counter – and it cost like 6 euro or something ridiculous like that.

12. I am very excited to get back on track – at some point – with posting on my regular schedule for my blog. I haven’t talked about it much, but this has been a difficult year for a myriad of personal reasons. It’s also probably been the busiest year of my life. I’m very much so looking forward to the next few months slowing down big time so I can return to my regular routine.

13. I go through major cycles with my shopping. There are times where all I’m interested in are clothes, and nothing else will pique my attention. Then it will switch to beauty/makeup/skincare, and that’s all I want to browse. Recently, it’s been homeware. I cannot get enough of meandering through Anthropologie’s home section and dreaming of decorating a house one day.

14. Every year, I spend a week in Long Beach Island, New Jersey with my fiancé and his family. It is one of my most favorite weeks of the entire year. I just love everything about it – the beach, the restaurants, the time we get to spend together. It’s so special!

15. One of my least favorite things in the entire world is having a coughing fit somewhere that’s very public. You know those coughs where you inhale a piece of dust or something, and it will NOT leave you alone? I basically choke down every beverage in sight to avoid hacking up a lung. They always happen at the most embarrassing times too. I’ve had it happen during a presentation, while taking a midterm exam in college in a silent classroom, in the middle of a restaurant a few days before everything shut down for Covid. I hate it!!

16. When I was younger and in school, I used to be such a voracious reader. I was constantly at my school library searching for new books to read, and I’d fly through them in just a couple of days. Now…not so much. I’d love to get back into it, but I feel like I don’t know where to find the time & also don’t know what to read. If you have any book recommendations, let me know!

17. My favorite cocktails are bellinis, palomas, mojitos, spicy margaritas, and any kind of white wine sangrias. Bonus points if it’s served in a beautiful glass.

18. You know how they say that people tend to get “stuck” in the era/decade when they were young? I feel like I do a pretty good job at keeping my style updated as I inch toward my 30s. But one place where I feel like I’m frozen in time is my makeup! I learned how to do everything on YouTube in 2011, and I think that’s where my skillset is permanently going to be LOL. Every time I do my eyeshadow, it’s still as if I had my Urban Decay Naked palette with me. Shimmery champagne all over the lid, a few matte browns in the crease and outer corner, and a brow highlighter.

19. I have not eaten pork in almost three years. I cut it out of my diet for medical reasons and, surprisingly, do not miss it at all. I never cooked it much at home. But it’s shocking how often bacon/sausage shows up in dishes when I go out to eat. It’s like the sneakiest food ever.

20. I’ve mentioned before that I watch a lot of horror movies. My favorites that I keep going back to are Creep, Barbarian, Hell House, Paranormal Activity 3, The Houses October Built, Sinister and the Terrifier movies.

21. The absolute, most terrifying movie that I have ever watched to this day is Vacancy – because I feel like it could actually happen to anyone in real life. A killer clown rampaging a town on Halloween like in Terrifier? Probably not. Checking in, completely stranded, to an old motel only to find that you’re being hunted by the owner who knows every nook and cranny? Totally possible and extremely horrifying.

22. THIS is a fun fact that will probably get me in trouble. I used to be a massive Taylor Swift fan, but I’ve been very turned off lately. After the absolute hours-long nightmare of trying to get tickets, the disgusting prices, her not saying anything about it until all the tickets were sold – I just got the ick about it all. And then all the hysterics around her recent relationships…I don’t know. I just feel like there are a lot of other things to worry about rather than fixate on whether a woman in her mid 30s is at a football game.

23. I think that I am an introverted extrovert. I’m pretty quiet and like to keep to myself for the most part. I also don’t have a huge social circle. But at the end of a long, draining week, the thing that recharges my batteries the most is going out and doing something fun – dinner, drinks, shopping, a party, etc. – rather than staying in.

24. I actually really enjoy cooking and have always wanted to work through an entire cookbook. I have a couple of Half Baked Harvest books I really enjoy. Maybe this winter after the holidays, I will make that my little project to pass the colder months.

25. On the flip side, I hate grocery shopping. It is my least favorite chore ever. I will literally go as long as I can before I make a trip to the store, which means a lot of bits-and-pieces girl dinners when I’m dining alone LOL.

26. If I got to pick, my final meal would consist of a Caesar salad, medium filet, homemade macaroni and cheese, some great bread, and brownies with ice cream. Plus a bottle of champagne.

27. Hawaii is the only place on my travel bucket list right now. I don’t have a huge desire to travel internationally.

28. My fiancé and I have been together for nearly seven years, and our anniversary is 1/7/17. We met in college but didn’t start dating until after he graduated.

29. I’ve never gotten a manicure. I’ve got pretty steady hands to paint them myself and don’t enjoy wearing nail polish that much in general, so it never made sense to spend the money on it.
