Affordable Thanksgiving Outfit Ideas

I don’t know about you, but I am so ready to jump into the holiday season. I truly could not care less about Halloween this year. Typically I stock up on a bunch of candy and spend the month binging scary movies. But this time around, I am itching to dive headfirst into the cozy, warm, wholesome vibes of November and December. I thought it would be fun to share some affordable Thanksgiving outfit ideas with you today. Just in case you’re as eager as I am for the festivities to begin. ๐Ÿ™‚

love dressing up for Thanksgiving. Even though my plans are never that formal, I spend most of the day hopping from house to house. Between my family and my fiancรฉ’s, our schedules (and stomachs) are full. Adding some extra effort into my appearance and outfit for the day makes me feel more put together while running around.

That being said, these outfits lean more elevated, but you can dress them down as you see fit. You can easily swap a skirt for a pair of jeans or trousers, or feel free to keep the accessories to a minimum. Most of the pieces I’ve included are also under $100. That leaves you some extra money for Black Friday shopping when the time comes. ๐Ÿ™‚

My Thanksgiving outfit formula typically consists of a flowy dress (for maximum comfort) in a sophisticated but festive fabric (velvet, sequin, satin, etc.), Mary Janes or boots, and fun accessories that show my personality (like bow earrings or a sparkly bag).

I feel most like “me” in this type of outfit for photos, seeing family I don’t usually see, etc. while still being comfortable enough at mealtime. Choosing a dress with some smocking at the waist is another great option for dressing up without feeling restricted.

I’m also a fan of a mini skirt and a sweater combo, too, for the holiday. It’s a classic, timeless look that will never go out of style. Rich textures like suede and boucle add a little bit of extra coziness, as well, which elevates the look further.

No matter which formula I choose, I always top my outfit off with an elegant and practical coat. By the end of November, temps can be downright freezing in Pittsburgh. Especially if I have a plan to go shopping for deals later in the night, I need a coat to bundle up in. I prefer wool-blend coats that are structured or have a tie-belt detail.
