Happy Friday everyone! Was this week insanely busy for anyone else? I’m finding it difficult lately to keep up with three blog posts a week. My days have been packed full from morning until night with work and my personal life. I’ll try to get back on track with my typical schedule later in the fall. 😊 Today I thought it would be fun to switch things up and do a chattier-style blog post about some things I’m looking forward to this season, as well as this adorable plaid mini dress for fall.
Slowing Down – This is one of the things I am most excited about for autumn!! Like I just mentioned, I feel like the past few months have been slammed. It’s all been very fun and exciting stuff going on. But I definitely feel very tired and am really looking forward to a few weekends in a row with no plans toward the middle of October. Just from the end of August until now, I’ve gotten engaged, went on vacation to Florida, did some pet-sitting, and spent a weekend in Cincinnati for a concert. This weekend, we’re in Cleveland for another concert, followed by my birthday weekend, and then the following weekend, we’re seeing Lana Del Rey and celebrating our engagement with family. So definitely all wonderful, really happy and lovely stuff to be busy with, but busy nonetheless. I feel like I need a really good nap LOL.
Fantasy Football – If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you might know that I’m a pretty massive sports fan. I’ve played fantasy football for a handful of years now, and it’s one of my most favorite parts of fall. I love everything about it – all the weekly research, drafting my perfect team, comparing which players to sit or start any given week, waking up in the middle of the night to snag players on waivers, battling through injuries, watching literally every single game each week. I’ve always loved strategy-based games, and this is one giant, months-long strategic journey. I’m in a league with my fiancé, his dad and my dad, so that makes it extra fun too with some trash talk. Fingers crossed it’s a good season!
Wedding Planning – I’m pretty excited to start wedding planning this fall. But I have to say – it’s overwhelming. I have never planned a regular party in my life, let alone a wedding. I feel like there are sooooo many different components that go into it. There’s the venue, the catering, the entertainment, flowers, wardrobe. I feel like I’m in decision paralysis at the moment. We’ve reached out to a handful of venues and are going to compile that information into a spreadsheet. Then we’re going to pick four or five favorites to tour and book our favorite one from the tours for our wedding. But besides that, I have literally no clue where to start with any of the planning!! I’m not super type-A, but I think I’m going to need to make a ginormous list and timeline it all out.
Apple Orchard – One of the things I absolutely must do this fall is visit some local apple orchards. There are a few near us in Pittsburgh, and they make for such a lovely day out in autumn. I typically like to visit during my birthday weekend. It’s a fun celebration, plus there’s always some fall festivals going on with delicious food and fun activities. I’m a sucker for apple-picking, baked goods and crafts. And of course, I always have to wear a cute outfit to go, too!
All The Fall Dresses – Once the weather cools down (it was 80 yesterday), I can’t wait to dive into my fall wardrobe. This adorable plaid Hill House mini dress has been a nice transition for the summer weather but autumn mindset. The fabric is a pretty navy blue and white plaid, and it’s a cotton so it’s lighter for the heat. This dress is the Naia silhouette from their spring collection, and I absolutely love it! It’s got a u-cut neckline, puff sleeves and pockets. I find that this style runs a bit shorter than their other dresses, so I sized up to a medium in length. Even though this dress was from the spring drop, I think it works better for fall. Once it cools down, this will be so cute paired with a trench coat and boots. Plus, it’s on sale!
