What’s On My Birthday Wish List

My birthday is on Monday, and I feel like it totally snuck up on me this year. Typically I have a few weeks where I’m planning what I want to do, thinking about gifts I might want to get myself, etc. I love celebrating my birthday because it feels like the official kickoff of fall. But with how busy the last month has been, birthday planning has completely gotten away from me. Luckily I had a little bit of downtime the last two days. I put together a collage for what is on my birthday wish list this year to share today.

I’m a big fan of getting gifts for yourself on special occasions, like a birthday. Life in general is difficult, and everyone works so hard on a daily basis. I think it’s important to treat yourself to something special on a birthday, whether it’s getting your favorite coffee or buying an expensive bag you’ve been eyeing for forever. I’m turning 29, which isn’t a huge birthday. But it’s another year of life, and I think that’s enough reason to celebrate it. 🙂 I’ve ordered a few things already to try, and I have my eye on a couple of other things I’m going to grab too. I tend to do this – I’ll order a ton of stuff to see what I actually like, and then I’ll send 98% of it back.

Lately, I have been on such a huge houseware kick. Both my mom and my sister recently closed on new houses, and I think that has sparked my desire to add some new zest to my apartment. Julian and I updated a lot of our furniture in the living room about a year ago. But there are still some other accents I want to add to make it feel more special. I am absolutely *obsessed* with this butterfly shelf. Like, how gorgeous? I can picture this up in my living room, my bedroom or even the bathroom for a cute little skincare shelf.

I am also in love with this metallic retriever lamp. My family has two golden retrievers and a Labrador retriever, so I feel like it’s only fitting I own this at some point in the future. Another homeware piece on my wish list is this vanity mirror that is surprisingly affordable. I love the vintage feel to it, and the mirror I currently have is broken.

I think it’s the cozy fall weather, but I’ve been really leaning into cooking at home recently. It’s so much more fun to cook when it isn’t a million degrees outside. So I’ve been making all the soups and baked goods. I am super interested in this do-it-all pot from Our Place. It functions as a dutch oven, has a built-in steamer, and the lid acts as a strainer. You can use it to boil water and then stick it right in the oven. My kitchen storage situation is slim in my apartment. So a pot that can take on a million other tasks is a winner in my books. The lavender shade is also just so pretty.

I’m basically a sucker for any kitchen goods that are gorgeous – like these printed dessert plates or these floral champagne glasses. Do I host any parties or have people over for dinner ever? No. Did Anthropologie send me a birthday coupon that I might use on them anyways? Definitely possible.

On the fashion side of things, it’s been a tradition the last couple of years to splurge on a handbag for myself. Two years ago, I purchased by Chloe Aby Lock bag that I adore. Last year, I bought a Dior Diorama bag in the most insane shade of royal blue. But this year, nothing is really calling out to me from the handbag universe. The only one that’s on my radar right now is this patchwork crossbody from Sezane. It’s giving me all the chic 70s vibes without looking dated.

In general, I’ve been very into ladylike pieces lately, and I think you can tell by my wish list. This bow cardigan is simply adorable, these toe cap heels are the definition of classic, and this little tweed skirt and jacket set from Reformation in the most darling shade of pink? To die for. I’m also pining over these tall maroon leather boots, these heart huggie earrings, and a pearl version of one of my most favorite necklaces ever.

A couple of quick beauty products that are also on my birthday wish list are from Summer Fridays. I’ve been seeing the brand everywhere lately, and my curiosity has been piqued. I’ve got my eye on the vitamin C serum since I just ran out of the one I was using from Glow Recipe. I’m also into this cherry lip balm that reminds me of my fave Dior Lip Glow.
