My Recent Fall Fashion Buys

Hi everyone! I hope your week is off to a wonderful start. Now that we’re midway through September, my brain is operating fully in fall mode. The weather is another story; we’re still getting 80 degree days here in Pittsburgh. I’m trying to enjoy them because I know I’ll be wishing for the sun to come out soon enough, but I can’t help but want it to cool down so I can bust out my sweaters and boots. In that spirit, I thought it would be fun to share some recent fall fashion buys I’ve made in preparation of the colder weather in the months ahead.

Hill House Home Vivi Nap Dress in Equestrian Toile – Sadly, this dress is currently sold out. But it’s so good that I am including it in this post anyways and am imploring you to keep your eyes glued to the site for any restocks. I enjoyed Hill House’s summer launch but have been kind of meh about their recent collections. I’ve been waiting for an interesting print to pop up like they used to do more consistently a few years ago. And let me tell you – this is that print! It is absolutely gorgeous in person. The equestrian toile is so chic and classic and timeless. The silhouette is ultra-flattering, and the length is not too short. I’m 5’9” and purchased a medium; I find the dress length is one I could easily wear if I worked in the office. It’s the perfect grand millennial fall dress!

Anthropologie Mabel Exaggerated Collar Quilted Cropped Jacket – Hill House dropped their own quilted collar jacket with the fall collection, but it was priced at over $220. The coat is certainly very cute, but I wasn’t interested in spending that kind of money on something on the trendier side. Instead, this version from Anthropologie popped up on my targeted Instagram ads for basically half the price. I decided to give it a try, and it’s so adorable! I’m imagining it paired with some jeans, a simple white t shirt and Mary Jane flats for an easy and sweet fall look. It would also be cute with a turtleneck, a mini skirt and some boots. This jacket is super soft and literally feels like a quilt you would use as a blanket. It wouldn’t be great in the rain, though. I purchased a small, so I think it runs slightly big.

J. Crew Factory Cable Crewneck Sweater – This sweater is such a steal for the price!! J. Crew Factory has some fab new arrivals, including this amazing cable knit. I decided to order it because I don’t currently have a neutral cable sweater for the colder months. It’s such a staple that was missing from my wardrobe and would be so useful in planning outfits. As soon as I tried this sweater on when it arrived, I knew it was a winner. The knit is soft, substantial, cozy and not the slightest bit itchy. The silhouette is slim but slightly slouchy for tucking into skirts or jeans. I’m really impressed with the quality of this sweater for the price. It’s on sale now for under $70, but I got mine for under $50 with coupons. I just know this knitwear will be on repeat for the next several months.

Hunter Refined Quilted Gloss Rain Boots – Hunter rain boots have always been on my shopping wish list, but the price kept me from pulling the trigger. My mom and I went to TJ Maxx a few weekends ago to see what they had for fall. We were lucky to visit at the right time, because this trip was a HIT. As I was browsing the shoe section, you can just imagine the shock on my face when I looked up to the top shelf and saw these gorgeous quilted Hunter boots sitting there. They were the last pair, and I don’t think I have ever snatched anything so fast in my life. Not only were the boots $100 off the retail price, but they were the literal perfect pair for me. These hit at mid-calf and are the glossiest, chicest quilted rain boots I have ever seen. I am obsessed.

J. Crew Edie Italian Leather Bag in Boulevard Green – There’s just something about fall that makes me want to refresh my accessories. I adore all the rich jewel tones and leathers that come out around this time of year. I’ve been searching for a sophisticated, understated bag for every day with an easy-going-but-luxe feel to it. When I saw this Edie leather bag in such a stunning green as part of the J. Crew new arrivals, I had a sneaky feeling this could be what I’ve been looking for. Once it went on sale (it’s currently 40% off!), I made the purchase for under $120. At that price, it’s a no-brainer. The leather is such high quality and the shape of the bag is perfection. It looks far more expensive than it actually is, and the deep forest green is going to be so lovely for fall and winter.

J. Crew Factory Button-Shoulder Striped Mockneck Sweater – This is another sweater I picked up from J. Crew Factory’s new arrivals, and it’s just as good as the cable knit one. If you are a fan of stripes, you are going to absolutely adore this sweater. It’s soft, not itchy, and the knit is thick and high-quality. It honestly feels and looks like it’s a $200+ sweater. The gold button detail at the neck is chic and adds another level of timelessness to the knitwear. I’m genuinely shocked at how luxurious this sweater looks and wears. As soon as I tried it on, this was a yes. It’s going to be so classic paired with jeans and ballet flats. I got a medium, and it’s currently on sale for under $70.

J. Crew Oversized Faceted-Crystal Stud Earrings – These are some sparkly statement earrings that I just bought for fun. My engagement ring is an emerald cut, so I thought these earrings would be a sweet nod to that. They look like something out of the 80s or 90s, but in the best way possible. They’re a touch vintage and nostalgic, but with some modern flair. These will be great to wear both casually and more dressed up, so I’m excited to own them.

Mango Studded Buckle Shoe – These buckle-adorned ballet flats are amazing. I talked about them on my Early Fall Wishlist post a few weeks ago and decided to pull the trigger on ordering them. They are the softest, most buttery material I think I’ve ever worn on my feet. I was taken aback by how comfortable they were to try on and wear. They’re very well-made, and the design is perfect for fall. I love how the buckles add a bit of edge to my more feminine outfits, and I’ve found myself reaching for these quite a bit recently. At under $80, they’re a great budget shoe choice for the fall.
