If you run in the same circles as I do on Instagram, you have probably seen quite a bit about Hill House Home and their iconic nap dresses. Last week, I featured the Roxie style on here but wanted to do a review of the classic Ellie, as many people ask whether or not it’s worth the investment.
In short, yes. It absolutely is worth it.
The Hill House Home Ellie Nap Dress is a dream. Most of the styles are made out of a cotton poplin fabric so they are crisp, comfortable, breathable and machine washable. The design of the Ellie dresses – smocked bust, tiered skirt, ruffle/flutter sleeves – make you feel like a princess when you are wearing them. They are extremely flattering on all body types and are appropriate for all occasions as you can easily dress them up or down with accessories. I get so many compliments when I wear mine!
The Ellie dress is comfortable enough to sleep in (as the name suggests, though I haven’t actually taken a nap in one), and yet they make the most gorgeous, put-together outfit at the same time. If you’re working from home and need to be on camera for meetings, this is a knock-out for your wardrobe. You will look super professional while still feeling like you’re in loungewear.
It’s very difficult to find dresses that truly do it all, but this is one of them. Weekend brunch? Nap dress. Running to the store? Nap dress. Wedding guest attire? Nap dress. Party? Nap dress. Dinner out with friends? Nap dress. Sitting on the couch and watching Bridgerton all day? Nap dress. If you’re not a fan of a midi dress, Hill House Home has a couple other length options in slightly different styles (the Athena is a mini with the prettiest puff sleeves and the Sabrina is a maxi with a corset detail). They are just as fabulous as the Ellie.
In terms of sizing, I typically go one size down for the nap dresses. I usually purchase mediums at most retailers for dresses, but I always buy a small in nap dresses. I am also 5’9″, if that helps give you an idea of how the length may be on you. They have very easy free returns, so if you are unsure about sizing, order two and keep the one you like the best!
Hill House Home Nap Dresses (and their collections in general) sell out SUPER FAST. Definitely don’t hesitate to grab something you like if you see it in your size. Otherwise it will sell out quickly. The Ellie I am wearing was part of a collaboration with Phenomenal, Diane Hill, and Bridgerton (!!!) and sold out in mere minutes of being online. But Hill House Home does frequent restocks from returns, so keep checking back on their website if you’re on the hunt for a specific style. I also own the Rose Botanical print (linked below), and that is just as stunning but is in stock with most sizes.
Hill House Home is launching its fall collection in early September, so be sure to follow my Instagram @thebekahboutique_. I’ll show my favorites on my stories and put reminders for the launch!
