I could not be more obsessed with the dress that I am wearing in today’s post. I know I say that about a lot of dresses in my wardrobe – but this one hits a whole new level of pure heart eyes. Today I am sharing with you quite literally the best corset dress in the entire world.
I adore the look of a corset. It’s incredibly flattering on most body types. It’s an ultra-feminine silhouette for any dress or top. And it adds a dreamy, cottagecore/fairytale feel to the garment depending on the fabric and print.
I used to wear princess costumes a lot while growing up. It was so fun and magical to put on those poofy, glittering dresses with twirling skirts and pretend I was regal. This corset dress is my grownup version of that! I feel like I’m some princess in a far away land in the best way possible when I put this dress on.
I’ve seen the Bardot corset dresses several times online. They always intrigued me but never enough to pull the trigger and actually order one. The fact that I ended up with this one was just a happy chance.
At the end of the month, I’m heading on a vacation to Florida for a week with my boyfriend. So a few weekends ago, I took a trip out to our local outlets to pick a few things up for the trip. Right before leaving, I decided to pop into Saks Off Fifth to see what they had.
I’m not sure if your Saks Off Fifth location is like mine, but it’s terrible. I mentioned in this post that it perpetually looks like it’s going out of business. It’s a huge warehouse-type floor that only appears about 20% filled with merchandise. Most of it is also clearanced-out occasion dresses. It’s very rare to find a real gem there.
I actually stopped in with the intention of finding a Hill House nap dress, as I’d seen some people post online that their Saks Off Fifth stores stocked them at a decent discount. I was unsuccessful in that regard. But as a consolation prize, there was a rack of the Bardot Kiah corset dresses sitting to my right as soon as I walked in. I snagged my size and practically ran to the fitting room to try it on. This dress is gorgeous in real life. FAR more than online. When I tried it on and it fit like it does in these photos, I practically squealed. It’s the perfect me dress, and I think I’m going to wear it on my birthday in a few months. Saks Off Fifth had it for under $100, so the purchase was a no-brainer. I’m wearing a size 6, and it fits beautifully.
The corset is snug but not restrictive. It has structured boning throughout the bodice that helps to create a stunning shape. It’s definitely has enough support to go without a bra. The corset cuts in at the hips, and the way the fabric is sewn, it forms this waterfall effect with the skirt. The skirt is flirty and twirly like a dream. It’s got a rather thick-sewn/tall hem that keeps it from flying up in the wind. The fabric itself has a lovely, high-quality weight and subtle sheen.
I also appreciate the puff sleeves, which are sheer and not too poofy. The dress is also lined and has a flattering open back and zip closure. It’s one of the most well-made and beautifully thought-out dresses in my closet – especially at the under $100 price point.
I don’t even know what else to say about it. I’m just obsessed. The incredible violet floral pattern is such an elegant and feminine choice for the silhouette. It’s everything 8-year-old me hoped I would be wearing as 28-year-old me. If there’s one thing that you would ever buy from my recommendation – make it this dress. It’s that special.
