It has been so stinking cold lately, it’s been hard to do anything but daydream about spring and summertime. Usually February is when we get a few random 70-degree-day breaks before March picks up with frigid temps again, but not this time! I swear, it’s like every time I blink, more snow is on the ground. Hopefully I don’t look too cold in these photos, because it was about 15 degrees with the wind when we shot them.
Besides regaining my sanity, one of the things I am looking forward to the most once the Pittsburgh defrosts is wearing all of my favorite athleisure sets again. I absolutely lived in them last summer, and I’m itching to bust them out. I work from home, so I don’t usually get fully dressed unless I have something to do later in the day. It’s a pain during winter because I have no motivation to wear a dress and boots when the siren song of cozy pajamas are calling. Tossing on an adorable matching skort and sports bra is the perfect solution for my 9-5 in summer. It’s comfortable enough for being on my computer all day, but I’m ready for any casual plans that may pop up afterward!
Obviously there are tons of lovely new athleisure arrivals hitting the market as we inch closer and closer to sunshine. I posted about this scalloped Aerie skirt and sports bra set on my Instagram stories the other week and could not resist picking it up. It looks so similar to the Marysia versions at like 1/3 the price.
Did anyone else used be obsessed with scallops in like 2015? My love never really faded, so I was thrilled when the Aerie set turned out to be just as cute in real life & on the body as it did online. I am wearing the lilac here, but it’s available in some other different colors, too.
The top is the cutest scalloped sports bra that is surprisingly comfortable. It’s got a built-in mesh shelf for extra support, although I would definitely say that this isn’t a bra for intensive exercise. It’s more suited activity akin to a brisk walk with friends or a jaunt through the mall. I’m wearing a size medium for reference.
The skirt is also so amazing. I am tempted to buy it in black, too. It’s flirty, lightweight but not see-through and has built-in biker shorts for comfort and protection. I personally think the shape is quite flattering, and I’m excited to pair it with some of my other favorite sports bras from Girlfriend Collective that I already own. I think you could workout pretty well in this skort – it’s definitely suited for tennis or a run, but also would be fab for brunch with friends.
I bought a medium in the skort first, and it was like trying to squeeze myself into a scuba suit. So I exchanged it for a large, and it’s the perfect fit for me. Just a heads up if you want to buy!
I paired the set with my favorite Vejas and a Hill House zip-up sweatshirt that I thought matched nicely with the lilac. I feel like an ice cream cone in the best possible way wearing this, and I’m so excited to actually take it out for a spin beyond my apartment once the weather warms up.
I’m including some of my other athleisure new arrival favorites in the carousel below. Simply click a photo to shop! I may or may not have ordered this gingham sports bra and skort set for “research”.
